Check out this list of artist resources – prizes, commissions, and more

One way to keep yourself busy making art, even after the degree, is to submit your work to the many juried events and exhibitions in the UK and beyond! A selection of competitions are listed below, many of them awarding substantial prizes for work in 2-D (painting, drawing, print-making, etc.), 3-D (sculpture, installation, etc.), film/video, photography, etc. Most charge a small fee to enter (which often covers administration costs), and should your work be selected, the rewards vary from cash to commissioned work along with the chance to join an exhibition and get a mention in critical write-ups.

If you’re thinking of applying to New Contemporaries*, RA Summer Show, or a Jerwood prize, better get to it soon cuz applications close in January! Other opportunities follow closely thereafter…

*Submissions to New Contemporaries is limited to current art students or graduates from the current year. So that means, if you graduated BA/BFA or MA/MFA in 2015, you can still apply for this year’s exhibition. Go for it!
